Today’s going to be a day kicked off with Hole & then Natalie Merchant’s “Ophelia” — perfect energy since I was already planning to put together an Eat The Rich playlist anyway.
FWIW, the best concert I’d ever seen (up until @Joel Plaskett’s One Real Reveal on Wheels show at the amazing Mary Webb Centre, last year) was Melissa Auf de Mar opening for Matthew Good on his Avalanche Tour (2003).
It was listening to Joel’s incredible album with his father Bill, Solidarity, as well as to some inspired MG, when I realized that making a 🇨🇦 “Eat the Rich” playlist would make me feel better.
Serendipitously, I was introduced to the fierce beauty of Leanne Betasamosake Simpson this same day.
I think her music & lyrical poetry might resonate for you too 🙏
“Live Like The Sky is an act of re-worlding, a record of struggle, a nuanced and complex shoreline combining a surprising influence from formative alternative musics with a vital Nishnaabe presence to create a fugitive and expansive space of relationship and affirmation.”
&
“Present in all of [her diverse works] is a deep engagement and response to the world, the wild fire smoke, the genocides, the driving fascism.”
Thanks, Matt.

Awesome. Hole were underrated and dismissed, but utterly brilliant. They were always interested in who she was dating but never the songs

Hope you enjoy it, Matt.
I’m absolutely transfixed.
“I’m wishing for the empty Pacific
I’m wishing for good tomatoes
I’m wishing I had never met you
I’m wishing I could live like the sky”

@Amelia Adams
Between the bass/drum line & the exquisite lyrics/voice, it really does live up to The Cure’s incredible Disintegration (both album & song).
loved it thank you
